Summer Celebrations…at Home & Beyond
There’s nothing like summer entertaining! We tend to think of summer celebrations officially kicking off with the 4th of July festivities. You may already have plans with friends for local Independence Day fireworks. Even after the 4th, there’s still plenty of cause for outdoor gatherings – birthdays, showers, announcements, or just because. Simple backyard celebrations – with delicious fresh food, carefree décor, & enjoyable entertainment – are a low key, fantastic style of getting together. Local concerts & events just seem better in the summer, too.
For a *simply fun* gatherings, here are some helpful ideas, for home & beyond:
– Low-stress preparation – Freshen. Clean the deck or patio & outdoor furniture (including cushions & umbrella), and the grill. Have candles ready to keep the bugs at bay, and keep a stash of sunscreen & insect repellant handy. Of course, having a conveniently located bathroom freshly stocked keeps the day-of running smoothly.
– Seasonal, fresh food – There’s nothing like the mouthwatering delicacies of the season, fresh from the farmer’s market or your own garden. Juicy watermelon, ripe berries & sweet corn…ah… is your mouth watering, too? A simple summer salad, tasty grilled chicken and veggies, capped off with grilled fruit & ice cream make a wonderful spread.
– Simple décor – The natural beauties of summer…some hydrangeas and a few long grasses in a watering can, or a simple “garden bouquet,” or flowers in a vase with sliced fruit…are all pretty gathered together. Light a few candles & you are well on your way to lovely centerpeieces.
– Games, games, games – Volleyball, badminton, croquet or frisbee, maybe even kickball, are fun backyard games for everyone. Of course, who doesn’t love to end the day with early with s’mores & stories around the fire?
If you prefer social gatherings beyond the home, Rhode Island offers great summer outdoor options. Local summer favorites include the weekly Concerts in Wickford Village, East Greenwich’s Main Street strolls, Providence Waterfire lightings, & Theatre by the Sea performances. The famed Wickford Art Festival, Newport Music Festival & Providence Restaurant Weeks are also not to be missed.
At h.a. Fisher Homes, we know that entertaining from the inside to the outside and the surrounding cultural offerings are important considerations in looking for a new home. While enjoying summer, visit our new Woman-Centric community in North Kingstown.
Garage Door Safety Month
Did you know June is Garage Door Safety Month? What is that? And how is that Woman-Centric, you ask? Well, how many times have you driven off to work in the morning & suddenly wondered if you left the garage door open? Or, perhaps gotten a panic phone call from your child trying to get in the house after being dropped off from school? Or, maybe you’ve woken up at 2 am realizing someone in your house left the garage door open last night. The beauty of Woman-Centric design is that it encompasses the life style of the home’s occupants.
Today, Fagan Door, Rhode Island’s garage door experts since 1975, shares three practical features for garage doors that provide greater peace of mind & convenience for your busy lifestyle. h.a. Fisher Homes is proud to partner with this family-owned business, in offering these Woman-Centric solutions for your home.
First, safe operation is built into the garage door opener. When an obstruction is in the “photo eyes” – i.e. a bike, skateboard, trash can, or child – the garage door will not close. Since 1993, photo eyes have been protecting young children from injury. Whew! Breathe easier…
Second, an exterior keypad is a simple solution that adds convenience and security for the whole family. Enter a 4-digit PIN and the door instantly opens. It’s that simple. No longer will you receive that 11th hour call from your child that they are locked out of the house after school….
Finally, as we live via technology today, now our garage doors can, too! Control your garage door and home lighting directly from your smartphone or Apple Watch! With this option, you can know when the door is open or closed, and operate it from on the go, or anywhere in the world. How’s that for convenient? Close your garage door from your desk chair… or your pillow.
